Our Approach

The idea behind forming SCPS is simple - no two people are the same. We adopt a child-led and person centred approach. As each child or adolescent enters therapy with their unique personality, background, and preference, we adopt an eclectic therapeutic process to reach the most effective treatment plan. Our approach is empathetic, compassionate, non-judgemental and collaborative. We approach each child or adolescent by first speaking with the parent to understand their unique history. We then create a treatment plan that is flexible and accommodating for that client. Our eclectic therapeutic approach brings elements from cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy. We have a strong foundation in attachment theories and family systems. Each element supports the child’s needs. This allows clients to learn more skills to assist them with their mental health and how to use them in their daily routines and across multiple settings.
